What We Do With Donations
Access to Care is grateful to all those who believe in and support affordable health care services for the medically indigent.
Access to Care is a cost-efficient model delivering primary health care services to low income, uninsured residents of suburban Cook County and northwest Chicago.
Access to Care uses existing infrastructure and is able to keep costs low. The program does not have overhead expenses associated with maintenance of equipment and offices.
The program has contracts with over 700 private physicians who see patients in his/her office. Access to Care also provides basic lab and radiology procedures by contracting at a discounted rate with private labs and hospital radiology departments. Walgreens Health Initiatives provides discounted medication for Access to Care patients.
How your donations are spent
Each year an average cost per patient is calculated based on utilization from the prior year. The largest cost is prescription medication. Your donations are used to provide primary health care services for more eligible people. The participating physicians have contracted to care for 28,000 people annually. Current funding allows the program to serve approximately 10,000 yearly.
That leaves 18,000 unused patient slots each year.
You donation will help sponsor an individual into the Access to Care program.
