Access to Care is seeking volunteers to help with the Gala for the 20th Anniversary Benefit.
Volunteers Needed for Benefit Committee

Access to Care needs volunteers to serve on its Benefit Committee for the program’s 20th Anniversary. Access to Care is a primary health care program for low-income, uninsured residents of suburban Cook County. To volunteer, contact Kate Barnickel at 708-531-0680

The program’s participating physicians have contracted to care for over 28,000 individuals. But Access to Care only has funds to serve approximately 10,000 people. That is the reason for a fundraising benefit.

The benefit will be on November 15, 2008 at the Union League Club in downtown Chicago. It will be a dinner dance with accompanying silent and live auctions. The Council needs people willing to devote some of their time to help make this event a success. The more money raised means more people will receive affordable health care services in their communities.

People with fundraising experience and event planning experience would be extremely helpful. However, experience is not necessary, staff will help the volunteers. People with good organizational skills, marketing, and communication skills are needed. Duties would include everything for a successful fundraising event, such as data entry, soliciting auction items, working with volunteers, cataloging of auction items as well as ticket sales.

The 20th Anniversary Benefit Committee will begin meeting in January 2008. Volunteers are needed who understand the need for affordable health care services.

Access to Care provides the opportunity for low-income suburbanites to see a local primary care doctor in their private office for a $5 fee. Other services include: prescription medication for $10 to $30 and basic lab and x-ray services for $5. Patients develop a relationship with their Access to Care doctor and report increased peace of mind.
